“Lunar New Year is a celebration of the arrival of spring and the beginning of a new year on the lunisolar calendar. It is the most important holiday in China, and it is also widely celebrated in Korea, Vietnam, and countries with a significant overseas Chinese population. While the official dates encompassing the holiday vary by culture, those celebrating consider it the time of the year to reunite with immediate and extended family” (Smithsonian National Museum of Asian Art). We will share Lunar New Year and other spring stories. Stay for optional activities after the storytime including outside playtime if the weather is nice, related crafts and / or other activities. Room H inside the Tennessee Valley Unitarian Universalist Church, 2931 Kingston Pike, Knoxville Tennessee. Stories last approximately 30 minutes with optional activities to follow. Event is appropriate for all ages and particularly well suited to preschool and early elementary children.
