How to Use the Library
The CDJ Library is currently open for browsing and self and assisted book check out.
Who can check out a book?
Anyone with a CDJL account can check out books.
How do I get a library card / account?
Complete this form, to request a CDJL patron account, https://tinyurl.com/CDJLPatronRequest, or request one in person at a library event, from an on-site volunteer or administrator or from cdjlib@gmail.com.
Who can help me with using the library?
A volunteer or library administrator from the Tennessee Valley Unitarian Universalist Church (TVUUC) Religious Education program can help you. Reach them at 865-523-4176 x111, cdjlib@gmail.com or in the Education Office at TVUUC.
How do I check out a book?
The CDJL check out system is self-serve. You can check out books using a smart-phone, laptop or tablet. If you are without a device and checking out a book when a volunteer or library administrator is available, they can assist you.

Cool feature: if you already have an account, you can go to the library catalog page, click on the little person icon next to the cat, log in and stay logged in. This way, when you ID the book that you want, you are already ready to check out!
2. Enter the bar code (preferred) or title of the book you want to check out in the search bar. Barcodes are found on the black and white sticker in the upper left corner of the book cover.
3. Click the green Check Out button under the title you wish to check out.
4. Enter your patron ID to sign into your account in the dialogue box that pops up.
5. You checked out your book! Take your book home and enjoy it!
6. Return your book within 21 days! We’ll check it back in for you.
How long is the lending period?
21 days
Can I renew my book beyond the initial 21 day lending period?
Yes! You can renew books once for an additional 21 day period.
Log into the library’s catalogue at https://www.librarycat.org/lib/CDJLibrary or click Catalogue on the CDJL homepage at www.cdjlibrary.org
Click on the little person icon next to the cat and log in. This will bring you to a list of your checked out books.
Click the blue RENEW button under the title you wish to renew.
You renewed your book!
Return your book in 21 days! We’ll check it back in for you.
How do I return a book?
Book returns can be dropped off during normal operating hours and at events. In the library, place your book in the blue plastic bin labeled “Book Return”. If you can not get your book back to us during these hours, please contact us at cdjlib@gmail.com to work out another arrangement.
When is the library open?
The CDJ Library is open during TVUUC office hours. Presently, those hours are Monday - Thursday 9:30am - 4:30pm and Sundays 9:30am - 1:00pm. See the TVUUC website calendar for updates and specifics at www.tvuuc.org/calendar.
Where is the library?
The Children’s Diversity & Justice Library is located inside the Tennessee Valley Unitarian Universalist Church at 2931 Kingston Pike Knoxville, TN 37919 Room H.
How can I see what books I have checked out and when they are due?
Open the library’s catalogue at https://www.librarycat.org/lib/CDJLibrary or click Catalogue on the CDJL homepage at www.cdjlibrary.org
Click on the little icon of a head and shoulders (a person) in the upper right hand corner of the screen, next to the sleeping cat logo.
Enter your Patron ID and click Sign In.
Your account will now be visible to you.
What if I forget my library card number / patron account number?

How can I donate books or money to increase the lending collection of the Children’s Diversity & Justice Library?
To donate money please view Donate under the Get Involved tab of our menu.
You can visit our giving page to donate funds directly to the Children’s Diversity & Justice Library. Once there, select “Diversity Library Gift” from the drop down to indicate how you want your gift to be used. All funds received are used to purchase books to add to our collection.
To donate books you can visit our wishlist to find and order a book to add to our library and have it sent directly to us.
Have books you don’t need on your own shelves anymore, and think they might fit in the CDJL?
Send us a list of the titles, or just ask us. We’re always happy to see how we can make use of books that you can’t.
Selling or trading books at a Knoxville area used bookseller?
We can use your McKay’s store credit to shop for the CDJL! Just bring us your credit, and watch the library’s collection grow.
